Decorating Nursery’s with Faux Animal Decor

Last Updated: April 16, 2020

In anticipation of your little ones arrival, decorating the nursery is a preparation that is usually at the top of the list.  In the same way that you decorate the rest of your home, the nursery should convey a certain tone, atmosphere, and expectation.

It is important to take the time to create an environment for your infant that stimulates growth, but also creates a relaxing atmosphere for all who enter.  I have been to several baby showers that guests have had the privilege to bestow gifts upon the arrival of the newborn, such as much needed diapers, bottles, burp cloths, and adorable outfits.  Prior to these events, mothers usually have a theme picked out, such as bumble bees, ducks, turtles, and elephants.

On a baby registry, a mother may request, for example, everything from elephant-shaped stuffed toys, bedding with an elephant print, and other elephant-shaped accessories.  Keeping with this theme, it should come as no surprise to find a white elephant head mounted on the wall of the nursery.

Perhaps you want to create a theme for your little prince or princess based around castles. You may want to incorporate some mystical creatures into the life of your little one’s room décor, such as fairies, dragons, and unicorns.

Unicorns are known to symbolize purity and innocence, which is something that we want all children to hold onto, for as long as possible.  Dragons symbolize longevity, growth, and expansion. Since a nursery should not be a cluttered space, hanging a Unicorn or dragon head on the wall can bring a spirit of wonder to this very important space.

Panda Bears are another common, yet unique, decorating theme for the nursery. Panda Bears are not only soft and cuddly, but they symbolize peace and good fortune. A faux  Panda Bear Head sculpture mounted to the wall is a chic addition to your nursery.

Your child is unique, and so should be the décor of the room that they will spend their formative years. If you want to create an atmosphere of exploration, perhaps a world map should cover one wall, while a white faux sculpture of a giraffe head or zebra head occupies another wall of the nursery.

Owls are symbolic of intelligence, wisdom, and knowledge. Having a beautiful snow owl, set in flight, hanging on the wall is a wonderful focal point, and is a perfect addition to the nursery.

Faux taxidermy is for your nursery, but it is also a chic way to decorate your entire home.  The options are as endless, as your imagination.
